The Creative Dying project was founded in 2017 by Megan Miller, in response to the overwhelming need for new models of end-of-life care.
Our mission is to start conversations about death, encourage end-of-life planning and establish a network of inclusive, community-based, psychedelic-friendly dying centers and home care options.
This work is centered on the following principles…
We aim to bring together essential components from modern palliative care with ancient practices to facilitate optimal end-of-life experiences.
We believe everyone deserves access to various healing options when facing death (such as integrative therapies, psychedelic-assisted therapy, connection with nature, community support, art and music).
We center the humanity of every person. We are committed to anti-racism, LTBTQ+ allyship and acceptance of all identities. We are working to build a diverse team that can support individualized end-of-life experiences for all.
We believe in community involvement in end-of-life care. We are committed to starting conversations and providing education about death and dying, holistic (mind, body & spirit) care and the creation of meaningful end-of-life rituals.
We are a values-centered organization, always prioritizing people over profits. We are committed to making decisions that support the well-being of our community and our world. We have proudly signed the North Star Ethics Pledge as an affirmation of this commitment.
